The web is filled with tons of free trading resources and I’ve compiled the best of them here.
I founded RetailTRADER in 2007 with the intention of compiling the web’s best free trading resources for retail traders of all experience levels.
That’s because the less money you spend on overhead like stock charting services, trading videos and stock market education, the more money you can add to your equity account! And in the stock market, more-so than anywhere else, it takes money to make money.
So, in an effort to save some more of my own money for trading, I started roaming around the internet to discover exactly what awesome free trading resources were available to us retail traders.
To my surprise I found…
- Free Stock Tips
- Free Trading Strategies
- Free Real Time Stock Charts
- Free Trading News
- Free Trading Education
Believe it or not, you can find all of these free trading resources online — and more! And because these free trading resources were so useful to me and because they helped so much in my own trading education, I decided to compile them all in one place, saving you, my fellow retail traders, hundreds of dollars in subscription fees!
Tired of all the Scammers?
The second reason I started RetailTRADER was because, when I first began trading the stock market, I can’t tell you how much money I wasted on subscription fees to scammer stock trading websites promising to make me rich.
If you’ve spent any time at all online, you know that you can easily spend $100.00 a month and more to subscribe to these worthless trading websites. That kind of money is crazy for anyone trading a small brokerage account.
What’s worse, you can learn everything they teach about stock trading for yourself by actually trading the stock market, and be much better off in the long run.
Sure, there are some good trading gurus out there, who really want to teach you how to trade the stock market, but seriously, there is also a lot of crap that you can do with out!
No More Scammers!
About David John Hall
If you’re a hard working retail trader who has a day job and bills and you never went to school for finance — then I am just like you. A regular dude, with a regular life, who is completely and totally obsessed with the stock market.
But that’s okay — we’re in good company. Plenty of regular, everyday dudes have made a ton of money in the stock market by studying hard, working hard and trading hard. And you can do the same!
My Trading History
In 2005, based on a tip from a friend, I opened my first stock trading account and placed my first trade.
With no idea what I was doing I put the entire of my trading account in Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI) — 3 days from the top! Over the next few months I got the best education you can have in the stock market: I LOST MONEY!
Still, (for some unknown reason) after that trade I was hooked. I spent day and night studying the stock market, reading books about the stock market, watching videos about the stock market and subscribing to online stock trading “gurus”. I spent a lot of money, took more trades, and lost even MORE money.
Finally, after 3 years of constant work and commitment, I started to get a clue and I haven’t looked back since.
Dumb dog — arrrrrf! Just kidding, this trade taught me everything!
My Stock Trading Strategy
You can read more about my stock trading strategy here, but in summary, I trade long base breakouts on low priced stocks and look to hold for 1-20 days with a target gain of 20-30%. My stops are usually around -10% which gives me a healthy 3:1 risk ratio.
When conditions are right I place about 10-20 trades per month. When conditions are wrong you’ll find me sitting on my cash and backtesting new methods or writing articles for my blog.
My other passions include screenwriting, surfing, working out (just finished P90X!), mountain biking, electronic music and spending quality time at the beach chilling out!
