What Do You Love To Do Besides Trading?

I think it’s important to have a balanced life outside of trading — and I’m constantly working to remind myself of this.

For me, it’s really easy to get so wrapped up in the markets and trading that they become all I focus on. Searching for the next trade, checking my stats, reviewing my trades, reading trading books.

Yes, you want to be immersed in something you love, but every once in awhile you need a break from that.

So what do you love to do outside of trading? I thought I’d share my favorite past times to give you a better idea of who I am and how I spend my time.

This is my full on obsession right now. I love all things snowboarding. It’s sad that we’ve just had the worst winter season in 20 years in SoCal — but I’m still obsessed, and planning trips to Park City, UT and Jackson Hole, Co for next year.

Electronic Dance Music. I grew up at raves and underground parties and that obsession has never died. Next year you will find me at Ultra Music Festival and various other EDM events, along with listening to and downloading EDM music.

I’ve surfed since I was a kid and I don’t think that’s ever going to stop. Can’t wait to get my new fish board for summer and tour SoCal hunting for some nice shreddable waves.

Web Design

web coding

Along with my love of trading, my interest in web design is the reason for this blog. I cannot learn enough about design, functionality, typography and coding. It’s definitely an obsession.

The moment I’m done with my weekly market scan, I’m grabbing my long board and hitting the strand at the beach. I don’t do this as much as I would like to but it’s definitely a passion.

To date I’ve written 14 screenplays and have come close to selling one or two of them.  I used to do this a lot more than I do right now, but it’s always present in my life and I have no doubt that I will continue to do this long into the future.

So what do you like to do outside of trading and the markets? Make sure you spend enough time doing those stress reducing activities. You will be that much more fresh and alert when you come back to trading.
